You may sign up for any class you want, however please note:

You are not officially registered until we RECEIVE the payment for the class. If it is mailed you will not be registered until it reaches our office. Also, we must have six people registered to run a course. You will be notified if your class is cancelled.

Full Water Park Lifeguarding Class:

This four-day course is required for anyone who has not been trained, or has been trained using a different lifeguarding program. The American Red Cross program provides lifeguards with skills to keep patrons of aquatic facilities safe in and around water. This class includes training in First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. You may attend any of our offered classes however you must attend all four days of the same session. No mixing and matching is allowed.

Precourse:

To take this class you must Participants must be at least 15 years old before the end of the course and complete a prerequisite swimming test on the first day of class. This test consists three parts:

1. A 300 yard swim (This must be completed using free style and breast stroke, however there is no time limit.)

2. A brick retrieval (You have 1 minute and 40 seconds to retrieve a 10 lb. brick from the bottom of the pool.)

3. A timed tread (You are required to tread from 2 minutes without using your hands.)

Lifeguarding Review:

This two-day course will renew your current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First-Aid certifications for an additional two years. Participants should come prepared to successfully complete the precourse swim, demonstrate their practical skills, and pass the written exams. 

Please keep a close watch on your expiration. Don't forget, if you let your license lapse you must take a full class again so keep an eye on your expiration date!

LGU Skills Test:

A skills test is a half-day refresher course for trained lifeguards who do NOT need to renew their certification. The LGU Skills Test is designed to prepare you for the summer season and is required for returning guards who aren't taking a Review or for Red Cross lifeguards who were not trained by LGU.

This course costs $29, however the fee will be reimbursed to LGU employees on their first paycheck following this successful completion of the skills test.

Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) Course:

This course will certify you as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. The LGI course is designed to train instructor candidates to reach basic-level Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Attendant, Lifeguard Management, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. It is comprised of some online class time as well as three classroom days.

Precourse:

To qualify you must be 17 years or older, possess a current lifeguarding license, and successfully complete an online pre-course session.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course:

This four-day course will certify you as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. It provides candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach swimming lessons and other water safety classes.

It is comprised of some online class time as well as three classroom days. To qualify you must be 16 years or older and demonstrate the following skills at a Level 4 proficiency:

Front Crawl 25 yards
Back Crawl 25 yards
Breaststroke 25 yards
Elementary Backstroke  25 yards
Sidestroke 25 yards
Butterfly 15 yards
Floating on your back 1 minute
Treading 1 minute

NSPF Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Course:

This single-day course is designed to provide individuals with the basic knowledge, techniques, and skills of pool and spa operations. The CPO certification program includes pool and spa chemistry, testing, treatment, filtration, maintenance, automatic feeding equipment, and government requirement. This program requires an online session prior to the course and the certification is valid for five years.
